Our Story:

The Broome Regional Aboriginal Medical Service (BRAMS) has been dedicated to caring for the Broome community for over 40 years. Established in 1978 as the first remote Aboriginal Medical Service in Western Australia, BRAMS provides comprehensive, culturally responsive primary health care, social and emotional wellbeing services, and NDIS support to local Aboriginal people. With a team of experienced health professionals, including Aboriginal Health Workers, GPs, Nurses, Psychologists, and more, BRAMS is committed to improving health outcomes in our community through collaborative efforts. 

Due to growth within BRAMS, we now have a newly created opportunity for a Management & Financial Accountant to join our growing Finance Team in our Broome Head Office full-time.

How You’ll Make a Difference:

As our Management & Financial Accountant, you will support the finance officers and report to our Finance and Assets Manager, as well as collaborate closely with our external accountant. While you will be responsible for supporting and upskilling our finance officers, you will have strong support from our external accountant to help you learn the ropes of our organisation.

You will be responsible for reconciliation, end-of-month, accounts receivable support, and providing technical accounting support to the rest of the finance team.

We pride ourselves on supporting and building up the communities we work in, and you will help to support and upskill our local team members who form your finance team to balance their experience with your formal training.

As our Management & Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for:

  • EOM reconciliation including GL, P/L, BAS, and associated reports;
  • Assisting and signing off on Accounts Receivable;
  • Supporting and training staff on standard accounting procedures;
  • Working closely with our external accountant to ensure accurate financial reporting;
  • Providing financial reports to Executive Leaders, Board Members, and the external accountant; and
  • Upholding BRAMS values and collaborating well across the entire business.

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

As our Management & Financial Accountant, you will have a strong background in preparing financial statements and reports. Happy to take on transactional work where needed, you will be looking to further develop your career in a role where you can support and mentor junior staff while working for an organisation making a difference in the community.

You will have:

  • A minimum Bachelor’s in Accounting, Business, Commerce or related
  • Minimum 2+ experience as a financial accountant
  • Strong commercial finance experience
  • Passion for developing and supporting staff
  • Cultural understanding and respect for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander People
  • CPA/CA/CIMA/equivalent or working towards is preferred
