Established in 1978, Broome Regional Aboriginal Medical Service (BRAMS) was the first remote Aboriginal Medical Service in Western Australia. We are experiencing a phase of expansion, with our client base doubling over the past three years. Our team comprises 15 dedicated Aboriginal health workers who play a crucial role in our efforts to align with our care model and work cohesively with the rest of our team.

About the Opportunities

Are you seeking a new and varied challenge, working as part of a multidisciplinary team of dedicated health professionals? We are currently seeking Aged and Disability and Women's Health to join our team on a full-time, part-time and flexible basis!

As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for providing best practice, discipline-specific healthcare services to BRAMS' clients in a culturally sensitive manner.

Reporting to the Practice Manager, you will collaborate with other team members to ensure patients' medical and health needs are identified, appropriate care is delivered, and support is maintained in cohesion with relevant support services to optimise outcomes.

Aged and Disability Nurse

Focus on caring for people with a disability and frail aged people to promote optimal independence, quality of life, and dignity in a safe environment.

Women's Health Nurse

Provide access to reproductive health services, cervical and breast screening, and increasing testing of STIs and BBVs in response to an outbreak in Broome.

About You 

To thrive in these roles, you will hold a relevant tertiary qualification and current registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). As a Registered Nurse, you will bring your experience from Hospitals or Community Health.

You will demonstrate a proven commitment to the principles of primary health care while also possessing a comprehensive understanding of the health concerns impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Maintaining flexibility in your approach to care can help ensure that patients receive the best possible treatment and support.

In addition, you will excel as a collaborative team member, with exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities that can be adapted flexibly to interact effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

You should thrive in a team environment and prioritise collaboration over isolation. A solutions-focused mindset and a willingness to take on varied work, structured or non-structured, are essential qualities for this position.

Prior to commencement, you will need to have a National Police Clearance, Current Working With Children Check (WWCC), a Current Driver's License, and the ability to drive to communities as required. You must also be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
