About BRAMS

Established in 1978, Broome Regional Aboriginal Medical Service (BRAMS) was the first remote Aboriginal Medical Service in Western Australia. Committed to the core principles of Aboriginal self-determination, access, equity, empowerment and reconciliation, they are an Aboriginal community-owned and controlled health service that provides holistic, culturally appropriate curative services as well as integrated preventative programs.

With a strong governance structure and comprehensive strategic plan, BRAMS continues to grow and expand their offerings to ensure they can achieve their vision of Healthy People, Strong Communities, and Bright Futures.

For more information about BRAMS and the valuable service they provide, check out their website here.

A GP Opportunity with a Difference

Due to ongoing growth, BRAMS has multiple short-term and long-term opportunities for General Practitioners to join their team in Broome, with the flexibility to work on either a full-time or part-time basis.

These roles can be highly varied but at their core are about working as part of a collaborative team to deliver comprehensive primary health care services to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander clients and their families.

BRAMS is a fantastic, well supported, fun and dynamic place to work.

They pride themselves on delivering quality evidence-based clinical care in a holistic and culturally sensitive way, both in clinic and through various outreach programmes. They have GP Registrars of all stages, Aboriginal Health Workers, Nursing and Medical students and encourage regular teaching, education sessions and training.

This job would suit a passionate and dedicated GP interested in having a portfolio style career, who cares about people, is a team player and has a desire to make a difference, however big or small that may be.

Previous experience in rural and remote areas and working within an ACCHO is not essential. A hospital is just down the road, and the clinic is friendly and supportive with a wonderful team environment, making it a great place for applicants who have just completed their vocational training to apply.

Plus you get to live in Broome, get an hour for lunch, finish at 16:30 every day and be well re-numerated. Time for a change? Give the Senior Medical Officer Dr Jonathan Blundell a call on (08) 9192 1338 for a chat about the role and see if he can’t tempt you to BRAMS!

Please note: You must be vaccinated against COVID-19.
